7 Wonders of Nature
The new 7 Wonders of Nature for 2012 have been officially announced by the New Seven Wonders of Nature Foundation, in Zurich, Switzerland.
The 7 new wonders were chosen, by the vote results on the official site. Every year the foundation selects 7 new places voted by the public, and those becomes the new 7 wonders of nature.
The foundation started doing this 4 years ago, up until now the places deserve their status as the best 7 places to visit at least once in your lifetime.
The Seven Wonders of the World has historically been a listing of seven sites known to the Ancient Greeks as the most notable locales in their known world.
Since then, many have developed lists of the “modern” Seven Wonders of the World one of which is the Geneva-based New7Wonders foundation that launched the project four years ago, when it originally received 440 contenders from 220 countries. Experts then made a short-list of 28 finalists.
World citizens were then invited to vote by telephone, text message and online for the 28 finalists, which included the Dead Sea, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef and the Black Forest.
